SEATTLE, WA – August 26, 2026 — Wine Folly today launched its first mobile app, bringing the brand's signature interactive wine maps, visual guides, and weekly lessons to iPhone and Android. The app is free to download, with a new grape, a new region, and a new wine lesson every week at no cost. The full library of 32 interactive maps and visual guides is included with Wine Folly+ membership, at no additional charge to current members.
It is the most-requested thing Wine Folly has ever built. Readers have been asking for a mobile version since the first maps and infographics started circulating in 2011, and the request never let up.
"People have been asking for this for years, and honestly, so were we," said Madeline Puckette, Wine Folly co-founder. "A wine map is only useful at the exact moment you need it, and that moment is almost never at a desk."
The Maps, in Your Pocket
The interactive maps are the heart of the app. All 32 regional maps are included in the premium membership, zoomable in high resolution, with layers you can switch on and off to show exactly what you want to see (or switch off entirely to test your own memory).
Alongside them sit more than a dozen visual guides that turn complicated topics into something you can simply look at: a beginner's guide to wine, food and wine pairing, the colors of wine at full resolution, and aroma charts built to use while you're actually tasting.

A New Grape, Region, and Lesson Every Week
Anyone can download the app, create a free account, and get a new featured grape, a new region, and a new wine lesson every week. No membership required. It takes a few minutes, and it adds up.
Built for Tasting, Studying, Traveling, and Shopping
The app is designed for the moments wine questions actually come up. Look up a region while you're tasting through a flight. Check a grape before you order. Study a map on the plane on the way to the region itself. Settle a question in the aisle before you buy the bottle.
It doubles as a study tool for candidates working through WSET and Court of Master Sommeliers coursework, who have been using Wine Folly's maps and charts to prepare for years.
What's Next: Grapes, Flavors, and Region Guides
This is the first public release. Expanded grape profiles, a wine flavors explorer, and region guides are next.
"This is version one, and we're going to keep filling it in," Puckette said. "There are thousands of wine regions in the world. The goal is to get them in here, grape by grape and region by region."
When asked why this is needed while AI continues to expand, "AI is great for detailed notes on a specific wine, but it's not that good at context. It's also often wrong when it comes to wine."
